Description

Drowning in Bangladesh is the leading cause of death for children under the age of five (The Bangladesh). Most of these deaths occur in “small bodies of water within 20 meters of the home…” (The Bangladesh). Bangladesh is an area that is “subject to frequent flooding” (Geography). This implies that watery areas are easily accessible to anyone. Looking at a detailed map shows that Bangladesh is a country that has waterways everywhere. All this water access increases the likelihood for drowning of innocent children. Currently, around 40 children a day in Bangladesh are killed because of drowning (The Bangladesh).
